U4GM Reviews Modern Warfare 4 Gunsmith Changes

Modern Warfare 4 lands on October 23, 2026, and this time Infinity Ward isn't dragging the old console generation along. It's built for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, with PC access through Battle.net, Steam, and Xbox on PC. Xbox buyers also get Play Anywhere support, which is handy if you bounce between console and desktop. The pitch is pretty clear: a full Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ on day one, tied together under the "Warfare Without Limits" banner. And yes, whether you're checking platform details or looking up Bot Lobby MW4 before launch, the big takeaway is that Activision wants this to feel like a proper reset for the series, not a half-step update.
A war story built around Korea
The campaign puts the Korean Peninsula at the centre of the crisis. North Korea launches a large invasion of South Korea, and the opening angle is more grounded than usual. You're not only seeing the war through famous operators. You're also following Private Park, a young South Korean soldier thrown into combat when a routine patrol breaks apart under missiles, artillery, and street fighting. That's a smart move, honestly. It gives the story a rawer starting point. Captain Price still matters, of course, but his side of the plot is messier. He's off the books, chasing revenge, making ugly alliances, and looking for a weapon that could change the whole balance of the conflict.
Price is darker, but Park may be the real hook
Price's outlaw arc will probably grab the trailer spotlight, especially with the revenge angle and the suggestion that he's no longer playing by anyone's rules. Still, Park's frontline view could be what makes the campaign stick. The setting also gives Infinity Ward room to show South Korean and American forces working side by side, with all the tension that comes from different training, language, and pressure. Some preview reporting has mentioned another playable perspective from the North Korean side, but that hasn't been locked down in public product pages. So, for now, treat that as interesting but not guaranteed.
Multiplayer sounds more controlled than flashy
Multiplayer is being sold around cleaner gunfights and better control. The new Ballistic Authority setup is meant to pull aiming, recoil, stance, camera movement, sound, visibility, and weapon feel into one system. The bit players will notice first is bloom being removed, so hipfire should feel less random and more tied to where the gun is actually pointing. Movement also seems built for freedom without turning the game into a wall-bouncing circus. Mantling, climbing, hanging, jumping, flanking routes, and vertical play are all part of the plan, but Infinity Ward keeps calling it grounded. Launch content is said to include 12 core maps, Gunfight spaces, Big War maps, and Kill Block, a training facility map that can change layouts between rounds.
DMZ, editions, and the early access push
DMZ returns as the extraction mode, with squads or solo players dropping into unstable war zones to recover military tech, loot what they can, and leave before things get worse. Weather, objectives, and enemy movement are supposed to shift during a run, though key details like squad size, stash rules, insured weapons, and death penalties are still missing. Preorders are already live on most platforms, while Switch 2 orders are coming later in 2026. Digital buyers get Campaign Early Access from October 16, plus Open Beta Early Access. The Vault Edition adds Operator packs, five weapon blueprints, BlackCell for one season, and a mystery DMZ Deployment Bonus. If you're planning your launch week, some players will still search for cheap Bot Lobby MW4 while others will care more about beta timing, PC requirements, split-screen support, and how Warzone changes once Season 1 begins.
